Bavarian Castle Tour Example:
Day 1
Arrive in Munich and head south to Hopfen Am See, on the lake near Fussen.
Enjoy a leisurely dinner on the Lake Promenade.
Day 2
We’ll begin at Marienruecke (Mary’s Bidge), which is situated above Poellat Gorge and provides the perfect place to view Neuschwanstein Castle. Then we actually get to visit the castle, which happens to be Germany’s most famous.
Lunch
Enjoy lunch and a stroll on Lake Alpsee
Then we visit Schloss Hohenschwangau, the castle where King Ludwig II spent much of his childhood.
Dinner in Falkenstein
Day 3
We continue on to Zugspitze and visit Schloss Linderhof. You’ll take in the castle’s grounds and gorgeous panorama at 10,000 feet up, the highest point in Germany.
Then we head back to our lodging via the village of Oberammergau, home of the passion play (a tradition which derives from a vow made by the inhabitants in 1633 that if God spared them from the effects of the bubonic plague then sweeping the region, they would perform a passion play every ten years).
Dinner
This experience would not be complete without a Medieval dinner in Fussen.
Day 4
Today we visit King Ludwig II’s largest castle, Herrenchiemsee, which he built on an island in Lake Chiemsee. Though this project was Ludwig’s most expensive, he only resided here for one week.
After touring the castle you enjoy boat, horse and carriage rides.
Before the night is over, we’ll visit the medieval town of BAD TOLZ, which has become famous for its spas and amazing views of the Alps.
Dinner with the locals at a local brewery
Day 5
We visit Schloss Nymphenburg (Nymphenburg Palace) on our way to Munich.
Once we reach Munich, you’ll receive an orientation tour of Germany’s secret capital featuring the Olympic stadium, Olympic Tower, Leopoldstrasse, Schwabing, Ludwigstrasse, Odeonsplatz, Koenigsplatz, Karlsplatz, Church of our Lady, and Marienplatz where you see the Glockenspiel. You have plenty of time for shopping this afternoon!
Day 6
We take the Romantic Road today to visit the masterpiece of Bavarian Rococo, Wieskirche, also known as the Church in the Meadow.
We continue to LAKE STARNBERG and at Berg to see the Votivchapel. Then it’s on to ritzy Starnberg with time for lunch and a stroll on the lake.
Next we’ll take a short drive to Andechs, a famous Benedictine monastery on the Holy Mountain. The monks are also well known for making their own beer, which we have time to enjoy in one of the many beer gardens.
Tonight, dinner in the country
Day 7
Our last day takes us to Lake Constance, where we visit fortified, charming Lindau, with its harbor, old lighthouse, narrow lanes, many fountains, romantic courtyards and hidden corners.
After lunch we take a boat to visit the Island of Mainau, a paradise for plant enthusiasts as even tropical flowers grow in the mild climate. The palace and the charming baroque church contribute to the magic of the island.
