Ah, the much awaited winter is finally here! Yes, the harsh cold might be an issue for many, but winter allows for the fun outdoor activity of skiing. And who in their right minds doesn’t love skiing? (Okay, I admit, I’m not a skier.) The sheer sight of dramatic vistas from the ski lifts, the enchanting feel of the cold air nipping at one’s cheeks, the crazy adrenaline rush and experience of flying through the snow are a few of the things that make a perfect ski trip. The general rule when it comes to selecting a ski resort is to either head north or head high. If the chosen resort includes a glacier, your experience is going to be even better. Here are our top 5 places for skiing this winter, including the most popular places in the US and around the world!

Are you interested in your family history?  One of the biggest trends emerging for this year’s travel scene are custom designed trips letting you explore your roots by visiting the places where your family came from.  Interest in this type of family vacation that combines great adventure with education has been sparked by the hit NBC television show “Who Do You Think You Are?”    Visiting Civil War sites is also becoming very popular with Baby Boomers, with some sites giving them the opportunity to actually dress the part while they tour the battlefields.

Cruising is becoming more popular as more and more cruise companies are updating their accommodations in order to appeal to people who have not yet taken a cruise because they prefer the more luxurious options provided by high end hotels.  And of course, one of the biggest trends in travel this year is going to be heading to London to enjoy the 2o12 Summer Olympics.

And happily for me, more and more people are now turning to travel agents to create their dream vacation for them.   After years of fighting through more and more complex and confusing web booking processes, today’s traveler has re-discovered the joy of being able to speak to somebody who can provide them with their perfect vacation, leaving them eager to get going rather than exhausted from the process of having to hunt for deals, purchase tickets and book hotel rooms.   So if you are already thinking about where to go this year, give me a call and let me create the vacation of your dreams for you!

What dream vacation can I create for you today?

Happy New Year’s everybody.   2012 has some very exciting travel opportunities coming up; some of them are once in a lifetime events.

London is going to be the top spot to be this year.  Not only are the Summer Olympics taking place there from July 27 to August 12, but this year marks Queen Elizabeth’s Diamond Jubilee June 2 to the 5th. And starting between these two events is the three month Art’s festival that includes everything from Shakespeare to street performers and music.  Another limited event is the Floriade in the Netherlands.  This once a decade event has some incredible floral and nature themes over a 160 acre park.   This lovely and fragrant event takes place in Venlo from April 5th to October 7th.

And if you are looking to stay in the United States, 2012 marks the Bicentennial of the War of 1812.  Some of the most popular travel spots to celebrate this anniversary include Norfolk, Virginia, Baltimore’s Inner Harbor and the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.  Special events include the display of tall ships, fireworks and a large number of educational events.  Celebrations start in June.

And April 2012 marks the 100th Anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.  Belfast has a huge development on the waterfront that will include titanic themed gallery whose shape invokes the memory of the titanic herself.  There will also be a vast variety of hotels, eateries, parks and theaters.   Southampton England will also have an interactive museum among other things that focus on the different aspects of the titanic story.    And if traveling to Great Briton just isn’t in your budget this year, The Titanic Pigeon Forge in Tennessee has a half-scale 3 deck reproduction of the ship and plans a tribute on April 14.

What once in a lifetime event would you love to be able to see and how can I help you get there?
